Sr Specimen Mgmt Associate

Job Overview
The Sr Specimen Management Associate is responsible for various activities associated with receipt, storage, and shipment of clinical specimens.  Responsible for equipment maintenance.  Guides entry level staff on routine procedures.

Essential Functions
• Responsible for accessioning, shipment and storage of samples, and problem resolution ensuring all samples are accurately identified, sorted and labeled for testing and/or storage.
• Responsible for freezer and inventory maintenance.
• Monitors scheduled and ad hoc requests to ensure timely completion.
• Guides entry level staff on department procedures and the on-boarding of new staff.
• Responsible for identifying areas of risk that may impact client deliverables.
• Supports and responds to after-hour alarms and/or other job critical functions.
• Assists in the review and development of Specimen Management procedures and techniques.
• Assists in the implementation of changes as assigned.
• Notifies inventory staff of supply shortages.
• Performs various other duties as required. Performs some activities in another functional area as required.
• Dependent upon functional area, may also handle receipt of compounds and control material.
• May represent Specimen Management team on cross functional projects.
• Participates in continuing education through self-study, attending training sessions and meetings.
• Supports safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiatives.
• Performs work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent  Req
• 1 year of related experience.
• Requires basic level knowledge of systems and procedures in assigned functional area obtained through prior work experience or education.
• Demonstrates understanding of functional area and responsibilities.
• Experience providing training and mentoring, participation in presentations, participation in group projects, and coordinating operational activities.
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
