This is a great opportunity to join our team that is seeking a like-minded person to develop relationships with key technology individuals at customers to understand technology pain points and direction. **What you will be doing…** As a system architect in our Data & Devices Business Unit, this individual will be focused on the compute, storage, artificial intelligence, and networking industry. You will interface with customers in order to understand how their systems function and determine their evolving technology needs. The System Architect is responsible for generating the high-level system architecture requirements and ensuring the TE technology and product roadmaps are in line with customer next-generation product needs. This person is required to follow and help drive strategy both internally and externally at key industry communication standards. **Long Description** **Technical Support & Customer Engagement** + Support senior architects in engaging with hyperscalers, OEMs, and system architects, gaining insights into next-gen infrastructure challenges. + Assist in analyzing emerging technologies, and identifying key industry trends that influence TE’s product and technology roadmap. + Contribute to technical discussions with customers, providing engineering support in defining interconnect requirements and system-level optimizations. + Work cross-functionally with internal teams (engineering, product management, and R&D) to translate customer insights into actionable technical recommendations. + Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to support customer engagements and internal decision-making. **System-Level Architecture & Product Strategy** + Assist in defining system architecture requirements, ensuring alignment with next-generation compute, AI, and networking ecosystems. + Support the evaluation of high-speed interconnect solutions, considering performance, power, latency, cost, and manufacturability. + Work with senior architects to assess new electrical, optical, and hybrid interconnect technologies and their impact on TE’s product roadmap. + Collaborate with internal R&D and product development teams, contributing to system-level trade-off analysis and technical feasibility studies. + Assist in validating new product concepts through simulation, modeling, and prototyping efforts. **Standards Development & Industry Influence** + Support TE’s involvement in key industry standards groups (e.g., OCP, PCI-SIG, IEEE, Ethernet Alliance, CXL Consortium) by tracking emerging protocol developments. + Assist in technical research and help prepare internal reports on evolving industry standards to inform engineering and product teams. + Contribute to technical whitepapers, reference designs, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance TE’s technical positioning. **Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution** + Work closely with senior architects, engineers, and product teams, supporting the execution of high-impact technical projects. + Assist in technical due diligence efforts for potential partnerships, acquisitions, and ecosystem collaborations. + Provide engineering analysis and support for internal R&D projects, ensuring smooth integration of new technologies into TE’s portfolio. + Help prepare customer-facing materials, including presentations, design documentation, and competitive analysis reports. **What your background should look like:** + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. + 5+ years of experience in compute, networking, AI, or storage system design and high-speed interconnect technologies. + Familiarity with computer, networking, AI / ML, and storage architectures. + Familiarity with industry standards like PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, and InfiniBand. + Knowledge of high-speed electrical or optical interconnects. + Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate system trade-offs for power, latency, and performance. + Effective communicator, capable of presenting technical findings and collaborating across teams. + Experience with industry-standard design tools (e.g., simulation, modeling, CAD, or signal integrity analysis) is a plus. + Effectively able to build relationships with external customers and industry leaders as well as internally across all levels, disciplines, and geographies + Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative to accomplish tasks with direction. + Ability to spend 10%-25% of your time traveling to customers, conferences, and TE development sites. **Competencies** Values: Integrity, Accountability, Inclusion, Innovation, Teamwork **COMPENSATION** + Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $113,800 – $170,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location) + Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
