The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Sr. System Administrator responsible for providing Level 2 and 3 support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, trending, performance analysis, automation, and resolution in Windows, File Shares, Active Directory, and VMware technology.

This position is for the day shift, with some requirements for weekend and off-hour work coverage. The role also includes being on-call rotation on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Level 2 and 3 support for Windows, File Shares, Active Directory, Automation, and VMware technologies.

Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, trending, performance analysis, and resolution of system issues.

Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, focusing on file share technologies and VMware.

Collaborate with application and database teams to understand system issues, provide issue resolution, and determine root cause.

Execute VMware vulnerability remediation, including upgrading ESXi hosts and vCenter.

Perform or orchestrate server migrations between VMware clusters or between systems (P2V) with other teams.

Install, upgrade, and patch Windows environments.

Work with Cloud Technologies like Azure VMs and other cloud services.

Utilize automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, PowerCLI, and others.

Resolve and/or facilitate the resolution of problems, including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.

Participate in team meetings and project discovery meetings with customers and project managers.

Escalate issues when appropriate and identify and resolve business issues.

Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including networks. Duties may include setting up user accounts, maintaining a library of system documentation, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space.

Administer personal computers, client servers, electronic mail, online and internet resources, local area networks, wide area networks, and standard application software products.

Interact with users and analyze vendor products. May recommend the purchase of hardware and software and coordinate installation with vendors and/or technicians.

Train internal users.

Competencies:

Experience with a variety of operating systems, protocols, and tools, depending on the type of platform or application to be administered.

Ability to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures.

Capable of performing tasks in dynamic/changing situations and, under stress, optimizing the availability of system services to users/LOB staff.

Expertise in file and folder permissions.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

At least three years of experience in systems support and working knowledge of specific technology to be administered.

Familiarity with multi-platform environments.

Understanding of security systems.

Demonstrated knowledge across infrastructure disciplines and technologies with a broad understanding of IT standards and methodologies.

10 years or more experience with Windows Operating Systems and VMware administration.

5 years plus proven expertise in cloud technologies, including Azure and Azure File Sync services.

Strong technical ability in Windows servers and VMware administration, capable of conflict resolution, identifying alternatives, and providing solutions.

Quality interpersonal skills to work with large groups of technical and non-technical staff on complex and highly technical incidents.

5 years plus experience with Dell Technologies like VxRail, PowerFlex, PowerEdge, HPE, and Nutanix hardware is desirable.

Knowledge or experience with Dell PowerFlex and VxRail hardware is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills to communicate and summarize issues and escalate to senior management.

Experience with ServiceNow is desirable.

Experience working for a healthcare company is highly desirable.

Additional Information:

This position requires some weekend and off-hour work coverage.

Regular participation in on-call rotation is required.

Skills:

Experience as a technical expert in one or more of the following systems with proficiency in at least two of the following technologies: Windows, VMware, Citrix, Web environments, and File/Print.

Demonstrated knowledge across infrastructure disciplines and technologies with a broad understanding of IT standards and methodologies.

Overall understanding of monitoring and backup/recovery technologies.

Disaster recovery experience in Windows environments.

Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment is preferred.

Familiarity with incident and change management requirements and practices.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
