Sr Test Engineer
Eaton’s Power Reliability Division is currently seeking a **Senior Testing/Controls Engineer** to join our team. This position will be based on-site at our South Milwaukee, WI manufacturing facility. The Senior Testing/Controls Engineer will be responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust testing processes and equipment for products such as medium voltage reclosers, fault interrupters, and switchgear. The Senior Testing/Controls Engineer will perform a wide variety of problem-solving to develop solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications. The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. **What you’ll do:** + Support test engineering technicians and junior test engineers with troubleshooting and servicing activities on malfunctioning production equipment and software. Must be capable of effective problem-solving. + Provide guidelines for the design and selection of test equipment, testing protocols, test data collection programs and best practices. Testing types include but are not limited to AC/DC dielectric withstand test, TCC timing test, partial discharge test, and system/sub-system level functional tests. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams (NPD/ETO, Manufacturing, EHS, Quality, Third-Party Suppliers, Customers) for defining test strategy and opportunities for test automation + Guide and instruct the capital equipment appropriation selection process. Develop and evaluate Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR’s) for major new product or process programs and initiatives related to testing/controls + Supports the development of TestStand and LabVIEW software, emphasizing well-documented, structured, maintainable, and reusable code. + Leads cross-functional root cause and failure analysis teams. Applies critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to optimize test systems for yield improvements, failure mode elimination, cycle time reductions, capacity planning, etc. + Plays an active role in assessment processes within the manufacturing environment. May act as a category lead or champion during an assessment process. + Responsible for executing sustained change management as it applies to processes within manufacturing operations. Utilizes change management techniques such as ADKAR to effectively drive and sustain process improvements and usage of MOC (Management of Change) process **Qualifications:** **Required (Basic) Qualifications:** + Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution. + Minimum three (3) years experience as a test or controls engineer in a manufacturing environment + Must be authorized to work in The United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution with 5+ years of experience + Experience with Design for Test and Manufacturing, PCBA Functional Test, Assembly Test + National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand experience – Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer and Certified TestStand Developer. + Experience in PLC Programming and/or working with RSLogix5000 + Ability to read, evaluate, and interpret internal design specification documents and develop a comprehensive manufacturing test plan. + Knowledge of NFPA70E and OSHA Regulations in Electrical Safety (Arc Flash, LOTO, Approach Boundaries, PPE selection, and testing) + Six Sigma or/and Lean Manufacturing knowledge + Experience supporting Engineered To Order (ETO) manufacturing plant **Skills:** + Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. + Proficiency in various software applications - MS Office, MS Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio, AutoCAD, SAP + Experience with National Instruments LabView and PC-based I\O systems. + Knowledge of industry and customer-specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, etc.). + Experience with Eaton and other brands of power reliability controls. + Thorough understanding of production environments (low-volume/high mix and high volume/low mix) including safety/guarding requirements. + Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques – i.e. value stream mapping, one-piece flow, 5S, etc. Ability to grasp modern technology. + Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc. We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
