Work Schedule

7 week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. 4 -10 hour work days on a flex schedule.

Primary Role

Responsible for collecting samples from the treatment plant or distribution system, performing routine water quality analyses, sample custody, data entry and recordkeeping. Interpret water quality results and suggest chemical dosage changes to treatment process. Review and test water quality complaints.

Key Accountabilities Collect and analyze process control and regulatory samples using quantitative and qualitative methods. Maintain bacteriological laboratory and perform bacteriological analysis in the absence of the lab analyst. Review laboratory test results to ensure that the laboratory data meets QA/QC protocol and regulatory requirements. Initiate chemical dosage changes when necessary. Review, troubleshoot and maintain all laboratory equipment and continuous monitors.  Assist in the training and development Plant Operators on water quality analysis.  Work with internal and external customers to build good relationships and solve laboratory issues.  Evaluate and monitor supplies and other laboratory costs to assist in maintaining the lab budget.  Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of basic chemistry and laboratory techniques Knowledge of QA/QC programs Familiar with EPA and DNR rules and regulations. Experience/Education Associates in Science field 2 years of general lab experience preferred. (B.S. degree in Science related field may be substituted for work experience.). Travel Requirements Local St. Louis regional area Work Environment Laboratory, Indoor/Outdoor, production/office environments Other Must hold a valid State issued Driver’s License. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift 35 lbs. Stairs required. Must be able to distinguish colors to conduct testing using normal colorimetric methods.
