Primary Purpose
Develops complex financial, accounting, or cost reports, reviews complex accounting documents and provides assistance to those requiring it, to ensure timely and accurate accounting reporting and documentation for assigned area.
Minimum Specifications
Education
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, with at least eighteen hours of accounting courses.Experience
Must have six (6) years of financial or accounting experience.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Skills or Special Abilities
Must be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and data base management software on a personal computer. Must have excellent analytical skills. Must be knowledgeable about the particular computer system that supports their function. Must possess the ability to follow through on problems for resolution and possess good oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
Develops complex financial, accounting, or cost reports, research records and other data, and performs analysis or reconciliations as required to produce accurate, complete, and timely accounting reporting. Reviews complex documents for the function, noting changes, corrections, etc., makes corrections and/or journal entries, and forwards to appropriate parties as necessary to ensure accurate documentation of accounting statistics and reports. Prepares schedules for account analysis, transfers budgeted monies between costs centers, reconciles reports and schedules, and produces spreadsheets to maintain accurate capital and operating budgets for Parkland. Assists departments and vendors to resolve accounting problems or questions, and assists with budget preparation, forecasting, and maintenance in order to serve as a liaison between the hospital departments/vendors and the accounting function. Performs and coordinates special projects for the assigned area, makes recommendations based upon results of the projects, and formulates policies and procedures to provide accounting support and documentation. May provide guidance to less experienced accounting staff. Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development by attending seminars and workshops (both in-house and off campus) and reading appropriate articles relative to the job. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Maintains accounts according to GAAP, GASB and FASB standards and develops financial statements that meet audit and management needs.

Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
