Sr. Accountant
Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Memphis, Tennessee. The selected candidate will be operating within a dynamic environment, with a focus on managing General Ledger & Fixed Asset functions. The role also entails the analysis of financial data and the preparation of reports to assist department heads in understanding their department's finances. Responsibilities: • Responsible for the management and performance of General Ledger & Fixed Asset functions • Post and verify cash receipts, expenses, or other transactions to journals or ledgers • Review invoices, vouchers, and other documents for correction before entering into records • Maintain accounting records in accordance with government regulations & GAAP standards • Reconcile bank statements and Balance sheet accounts • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the organization • Monitor daily reports to input receipts from each day's business into Financial Edge software program • Prepare monthly expenditure reports for all departments and assist department heads with the analysis of their departments' financials • Conduct analysis of financial data and provide timely technical and financial help to staff, as needed • Manage all cash control and banking functions, including credit card merchant accounts, cash audits, cash management, and reconciliation of funds Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. • Proven experience as a Sr. Accountant or similar role. • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations. • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.). • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP). • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and Blackbaud is a plus. • Strong skills in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations. • Experience in managing general ledger and journal entries. • Ability to handle month-end close procedures. • Excellent organizational and leadership skills. • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. • Attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude. • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is a plus.
