Sr. Accountant
Description We are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team in Goleta, California. This role involves supporting the Accounting Team in delivering accurate and timely monthly closes, managing intercompany balances, and coordinating complex accounting projects. This is a long term contract position that presents an opportunity to work closely with the Sr. Accounting Manager and contribute to the broader finance organization in a dynamic and engaging environment. Responsibilities: • Contribute to the month-end and year-end close processes • Manage and ensure intercompany agreements are accurately recorded • Prepare and review reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts • Conduct detailed financial statement analysis, including discussions on various issues and preparation of account reconciliations • Coordinate with AP, FP& A, and various functional business owners to establish best practices and improve the efficiency and accuracy of GL accounting and reporting • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls required by SOX • Assist with monthly and quarterly SEC reporting, including the preparation of financial statements and other schedules for 10-Q and 10-K filings • Implement and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve close cycles and ensure timely and accurate reporting • Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement well thought out solutions • Perform special projects and analyses as directed by management Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role • Demonstrable experience with Journal Entries • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel • Demonstrable experience in performing audits and resolving discrepancies • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Familiarity with financial reporting standards • Must have high ethical standards and integrity in professional conduct • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with management and staff.
