Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in handling and overseeing the company's financial processes. The main responsibilities include verifying financial records and transactions, reconciling bank statements, maintaining general ledger, and assisting with budget preparation. The prospective candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting procedures, and ideally come from a construction background.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department.
+ Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
+ Collaborate with management in setting and monitoring financial policies and procedures.
+ Assist with the preparation of budget forecasts.
+ Prepare financial statements - P& L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
+ Compiling and analyzing transaction data for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
+ Ensure accuracy of financial information entered into the accounting system.
+ Adhere to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
+ Manage company tax returns to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
+ Minimum of 5 years experience as an accountant, preferably within the construction industry.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting.
+ High attention to detail.
+ Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask.
+ Strong analytical skills and experience creating reports and presentations.
+ Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
