Sr. Accountant

Description We are on the lookout for a Sr. Accountant to join our team. Located in Nashua, New Hampshire, this role will involve a range of accounting and financial responsibilities. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be involved in the analysis of financial information, preparation of financial reports, and overseeing our accounting system.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Assist in budgeting activities, including maintaining line-item transfers and analyzing revenues and expenditures monthly
• Oversee the district’s accounting system in coordination with the City of Nashua Finance Department
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, grants, reports, and statistical documents
• Work closely with Human Resources on various payroll adjustments
• Supervise Billing & Collection procedures for facility rentals and student tuition payments
• Manage and approve purchasing activity for all expenses within the stipulated budget
• Prepare annual reports for state agencies, including the New Hampshire Departments of Revenue and Education
• Assist in the annual audit process and other audits that may be performed throughout the year
• Perform all responsibilities ethically and professionally in accordance with District policies. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field
• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in working with General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are required
• Experience in Month End Close procedures is necessary
• Familiarity with software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is highly desirable
• Experience in leading Town Hall Meetings and Education Sessions is a plus
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically
• Knowledge of current accounting regulations and standards is required.
