Sr. Accountant
Description We are offering an opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Arlington, Virginia. The role involves leading the review and maintenance of cost allocations, managing the indirect cost rate, and providing support for grant/contract billing. The Sr. Accountant will also be responsible for monitoring compliance impacts and providing analysis and reporting on rate performance, risks, and recommendations. Responsibilities • Lead the indirect rate restructure project to analyze potential future-state scenarios, determine cost accounting practice changes, and quantify cost impact to applicable contracts. • Manage the periodic review and updates of cost allocations in the financial systems. • Support the compilation and submission of annual incurred cost proposals and provisional billing rate packages. • Oversee the monthly indirect rate monitoring and intra-year forecasting efforts including rate monitoring, model development/revision, analysis, and variance identification and investigation. • Research regulatory interpretations on issues arising from application of CFR/FAR, federal agency-specific compliance, and other relevant federal/state & local cost accounting guidance. • Respond to ad hoc requests to address control issues on new business processes impacting government compliance and/or indirect rates. • Assist in the monthly billing process for grants/contracts and the periodic final indirect cost rate billing true-ups. • Support the financial reporting requirements for grants/contracts. • Manage and maintain documentation related to the life cycle of grants and contracts. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role or similar position • Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations • Solid understanding of General Ledger maintenance and Journal Entries • Competency in Microsoft Excel is essential for data analysis and financial reporting • Experience with Month End Close procedures is required • Knowledge of Government Grants and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a plus • Should have excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for team collaboration • Must possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Professional accounting certification, such as CPA, is highly desirable • Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex financial data is required.
