Description We are on the lookout for a Senior Accountant to join our team based in Lancaster, New York. The role is centered around the management of all general ledger entries, reconciliation tasks, and assistance with financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also be involved in assisting with budget preparations and the year-end audit.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all general ledger entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Conduct account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
• Assist in preparing financial reports to provide insights into the company's financial status
• Contribute to budget preparations to facilitate financial planning
• Aid in conducting the year-end audit to verify the accuracy of financial information
• Monitor financial discrepancies and take necessary actions to resolve them
• Collaborate with the finance team to streamline accounting processes
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
• Respond to inquiries from the director of finance, controller, and other finance and firm-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like. Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role is essential.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) would be considered an asset.
• Proven experience in account reconciliation is required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary.
• Expertise in accounting software and databases.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial reports and data.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• High ethical standards and professionalism, as it pertains to handling sensitive and confidential information.
