Sr. Accountant

Job Location: Whitestown, IN  

 

 

Summary:

 

The senior accountant’s primary focus is to understand and anticipate actuals issues on the production lines and be the specific point of contact, and accounting & controls champion for the plant. The Senior Accountant will also lead management of inventories, production accounting, & take the lead in training accounting employees. The Senior Accountant will be actively involved in providing support to finance and operation in analyzing variances and budget preparation. The ability to work independently with many different plant disciplines is a critical component of success as is the ability to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of accounting processes, and its corresponding reports under tight time deadlines. Additionally, being able to multi-task and working on projects with little direction is required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Plant Performance Reporting:

Support the Plant Controller in developing, analyzing, and reporting of performance, budgets and outlooks, and financial controls. Assist in performing plant analytics and analysis of anomalies and variances to enable the plant to address issues and improve performance. Assume responsibility for utilizing data analysis created above to determine causes of performance shortfalls.  Issue performance reports that highlight performance shortfalls to applicable plant users. Assist plant in delving more deeply into financial concerns or controls as required.

 

 

Financial Controls: 

Assist in developing and executing control procedures to ensure the integrity of plant financial records and safeguarding of plant assets. This includes regular testing and reviews to ensure proper goods receipts, finished goods shipments, production reporting, cash management, account reconciliation’s, material & parts obsolescence, inventory and fixed asset accounting. Ensure compliance with the Hershey Manufacturing Inventory Control Policy.

 

Capital Control:

Help PCG to review capital projects for compliance with Corporate Capital Control Policies and for adequate clarity of justification, consistent with the facilities’ planned direction for investment of capital resources.

 

Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance: 

Facilitate plant’s SOX compliance reporting and annual testing of SOX process effectiveness.  This includes performing the SOX tests assigned as well as those assigned to the Plant Controller when necessary.

 

Budgets & Planning/Outlook

Assist in providing actuals reporting and insight to support Supply Chain Finance.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

 

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and corporate financial policies Advanced analytical ability and good interpersonal skills. Strong computer (Alteryx, Business Warehouse and Microsoft Office Package preferred) and SAP skills Advanced spreadsheet skills – excel required. Effective communication and presentation skills Periodic flexible work hours (Physical Inventories, Month-end Close, Budgeting)

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

 

B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent (MBA, CMA, or CPA preferred) 5 – 8 years of accounting experience. Experience in manufacturing CPG companies preferred.
