Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team located in Rockville, Maryland. In this role, you will be expected to execute a variety of accounting functions such as general accounting, budgeting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support. You will also be tasked with managing accounts receivable, preparing standard and adjusting journal entries, and conducting payroll analysis. Responsibilities: • Accurately record transactions in line with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles • Prepare and substantiate monthly journal entries to properly document accounting transactions • Conduct research and analysis on P& L budget to actual and year over year variances, and analyze P& L trends • Deliver financial analysis and interpretation to management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities • Work towards the enhancement of efficiency and accuracy in financial operations by identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation • Address inquiries and provide explanations regarding financial matters to internal and external parties • Timely and accurately reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, resolving any reconciling items • Manage timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting • Oversee client invoicing and collection process including generating and distributing client invoices, monitoring payments, processing and recording transactions, maintaining account statuses, researching and resolving account discrepancies, and reconciliation of client balances to supporting detail records, cash receipts activity, and accounts receivable aging • Assist in annual budget preparation • Participate in annual external audit, ensuring timely preparation and organization of audit schedules, work papers, and various reports • Collaborate with internal teams, program directors, and managers to interpret financial results and to address inquiries and issues as they arise • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested. Requirements • 3+ years of accounting experience - any combination of corporate accounting and/or public accounting desired • Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation, maintaining the integrity of financial records • Capability to handle Bank Reconciliations, verifying the company's bank balance with our accounting records • Knowledge of General Ledger management, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly • Familiarity with Journal Entries, accurately recording all business transactions • Proficiency in Excel, particularly in the creation and use of advanced Excel Formulas • Experience with Month End Close procedures, ensuring all financial data is accurate at the end of each month • Proficiency in using Great Plains Dynamics and Great Plains Accounting for financial management This opportunity offers a competitive compensation package including salary of $90000-98000, medical, dental, & vision insurance, retirement plans with company contribution/match, free parking, competitive PTO, and additional benefits.
