Sr. Accountant
Description We are seeking a Sr. Accountant in the Food & Food Processing industry located in San Pedro, California. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity and will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial processes and systems. Responsibilities: • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) • Actively participate in managing the general ledger, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end closings • Supervise the processes of accounts payable and receivable, guaranteeing the accuracy of invoice processing, payments, and customer collections • Collaborate with various department heads in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, and monitor actual performance against these targets • Manage the company's fixed assets, calculate depreciation, and ensure accurate reporting • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify potential areas for cost savings or revenue enhancement • Liaise with external tax advisors to ensure the timely completion of tax returns and compliance with relevant regulations • Assist in both internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations as required • Identify opportunities for enhancing financial processes, systems, and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy • Utilize Great Plains software to manage financial data, generate reports, and streamline accounting processes. Requirements • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sr. Accountant in the Food & Food Processing industry • Proficiency in Great Plains Accounting is required • Strong experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management • Proven expertise in Financial Reporting and General Ledger management • Skilled in Budgeting and Forecasting processes • Experience in Fixed Asset Management is essential • Knowledge of Income Tax Compliance is required • Proficiency in QuickBooks is necessary • Strong command of Excel is required • Must have a solid understanding and experience in GAAP Accounting Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
