Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join a reputable government entity. This role is a fantastic opportunity for professionals with prior experience in government, municipal, or federal accounting who are proficient in Excel and thrive in hands-on environments. Key Responsibilities: + Perform a variety of professional accounting, financial analysis, and reporting functions. + Review and approve accounts payable (AP) invoices (not high volume). + Assist with accounts payable processes, batches, general entries (GE), and bank reconciliations. + Support year-end auditing procedures and budget preparation tasks. + Audit AP, accounts receivable (AR), receipts, petty cash, payroll, and other financial transactions. + Reconcile bank statements, accounts, and investment schedules; calculate complex interest allocations. + Analyze accounting and financial reporting requirements and establish internal control procedures. + Prepare changes to the chart of accounts, budget adjustments, and journal entries. + Collect and analyze data for budget development and financial reports. + Participate in preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Requirements Government/Municipality Background: Prior experience in government, municipality, or federal roles (even limited experience is acceptable). Accounting Expertise: Knowledge of general ledger (GL), bank reconciliations, AP/AR, audits, year-end reporting, budgeting, and asset depreciation. Excel Proficiency: Strong Excel skills are essential; must be comfortable with manual and non-automated processes. System Experience: Familiarity with Tyler Munis is highly preferred.
