Sr. Accountant

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the non-profit sector, located in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you will handle a range of tasks including the preparation of financial reports, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Organize and validate accounting information and generate reports for specific program areas.
• Regularly review financial statements to ensure correct coding of revenue and expenses under respective program areas.
• Contribute to the preparation of budget proposals and RFPs.
• Diligently perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and record journal entries, including recurring ones.
• Participate in the month-end close process.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures for compliance audits and invoice review.
• Support the development and maintenance of internal financial controls.
• Conduct monthly financial analysis, including revenue and expense variance analysis.
• Prepare and update projected financial statements and other schedules for select programs as needed.
• Collaborate with the finance team and support the activities of finance staff.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Handle special projects to meet the needs of the department and organization.
• Maintain the ability to analyze and evaluate accounting and financial data.
• Exhibit knowledge of accounting software and automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Requirements
• Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or related field
• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
• Demonstrated ability to handle General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is essential
• Familiarity with NSage Intacct
• Previous experience in the non-profit sector is preferred but not mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ethical conduct and understanding of confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
