Job Summary Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs. We are currently looking for aSenior Accountantout of our Tonawanda, NY location. Reporting directly to the Regional Controller, this is a salaried role starting at $75,000. Main Responsibilities + Prepare and review monthly financial statements + Prepare journal entries and assist with month end close + Communicate effectively with other business units and management to plan work, gather information, and present results. + Leads or actively participates in increasingly complex department projects and continuous improvement activities to produce relevant financial reports in the fastest, most efficient means possible. + Perform general ledger and bank statement reconciliations + Assist with audit requests + Accurately and efficiently perform accounting activities of increasing complexity. + Research and apply accounting policy to business issues that arise. + Ensure compliance with GAAP + Establish understanding of how data flows through the financial systems to the accounting function in order to identify issues and take action to address them. Requirements and Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in accounting required + 5+ years of overall combined accounting experience + Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures + Attention to detail, accuracy, and manage time effectively + Excellent organizational and communication skills + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications + JDE Enterprise 1 experience preferred + Geographic mobility for future career development is highly preferred + Workplace flexibility with some opportunities for a hybrid remote/in office available after spending some time getting familiar with the position.
