Description Robert Half is recruiting for a strong accounting consultant to support our municipal client. This consultant will be backfilling for a recently retired senior accountant, and report into the accounting supervisor to take over recurring close responsibilities and audit support. Responsibilities are expected to include, but are not limited to, responding to auditor inquiries and pulling schedules (PBC list), preparing journal entries and accruals, fixed assets accounting, grant reporting, schedule roll-forwards, preparing financial statements, account and bank reconciliations, and ad hoc analysis. The ideal consultant will demonstrate a willingness to roll-up-their sleeves to catch-up on outstanding reconciliations and an eagerness to learn new skills! Requirements • Prior experience using ONESolution or similar GL software • Ability to work independently supporting a month-end close cycle • Experience supporting audits (pulling schedules, responding to auditors, PBC lists) • Strong communication • Prior experience in municipal or non-profit settings preferred (grant accounting) • Ability to work a 4/10 schedule on-site in the South Bay Requirements • Must have a strong understanding of account reconciliation • Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation is required • Experience with bank reconciliations is necessary • Must be capable of effectively managing a general ledger • Ability to prepare and adjust journal entries is expected • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required • Experience in month end close activities is necessary • Knowledge of grant accounting in a local government context is preferred • Ability to prepare audit PBC lists is expected • Experience in creating audit schedules is necessary • Must be capable of responding to audit requests in a timely manner • Experience with fixed assets accounting is required Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
