Description
Our client, a leading law firm based in San Diego, CA is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who is ready to take on a leadership role in a supportive and collaborative workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Manage and oversee general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
+ Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with GAAP, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
+ Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis, to support strategic decision-making for the firm.
+ Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory accounting standards. Serve as a point of contact for external auditors, preparing needed data and documentation.
+ Work closely with billing and collections teams to review accounts receivable aging, resolve discrepancies, and monitor accounts payable processes.
+ Identify opportunities for improving accounting operations and recommend procedural enhancements to boost efficiency.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff and assist in special projects as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
+ 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role. Legal industry or professional services experience is strongly preferred.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Elite, Aderant, or similar legal-specific platforms).
+ Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
+ Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
+ Strong analytical ability, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
+ In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and legal billing guidelines (trust accounting experience is a plus).
