Sr. Accountant
Description Our client, a well-established organization in the legal sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead critical financial processes and provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making in a dynamic and professional environment. Key Responsibilities + Prepare and review reconciliations for general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly. + Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals. + Compile and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. + Support budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing detailed reports and tracking financial performance. + Manage and implement financial processes for trust accounts (specific to legal industry standards). + Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure efficient workflows. + Evaluate processes and propose improvements to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency. + Assist in tax-related reporting, audit preparations, and collaboration with external auditors. + Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. + Collaborate across departments, including legal operations, to provide financial data insights that align with organizational goals. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years in a senior role. + Experience in professional services, specifically in the legal industry, is preferred. + Strong proficiency in accounting software (Elite, Aderant, or similar systems preferred). + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling). + CPA or other advanced certifications are highly preferred. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. + Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines. + Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-financial stakeholders.
