Sr. Accountant
Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector at our Brooklyn location. The Sr. Accountant will be tasked with handling various financial and administrative tasks such as managing the daily functions of accounts payable, cash management, and general ledger. The role also involves the preparation of financial reports, voucher submissions, and ensuring accuracy in all accounting-related tasks. Responsibilities: • Oversee the daily operations of accounts payable, general ledger, and cash management, ensuring that all systems, processes, and data maintain their integrity. • Facilitate in third-party payroll processing and ensure that employee timecards are approved by supervisors and payroll ledgers are balanced. • Conduct a thorough review of accounts payable function to prevent duplication of payments and ensure the accuracy of invoice coding. • Oversee the month-end close process, and prepare monthly and annual P& L/Balance Sheet reports. • Prepare and maintain all financial reports and voucher submissions. • Assist in government contract audits by preparing necessary documentation and acting as the main point of contact for all communications. • Review invoices and coding for assigned contracts to ensure proper classification. • Assist in the preparation of year-end corporate and periodic contract compliance audits, and retrieve supporting documents and backup information as requested. • Prepare ad-hoc reports for the finance team. • Analyze accounts for the preparation and dissemination of 1099s. • Lead special projects aimed at improving accounting practices. • Handle all accounting-related tasks in accordance with GAAP. • Perform other accounting duties as requested.
