Sr. Accountant
Description We are offering a permanent employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the non-profit sector, located in Urbanna, Virginia, United States. The focus of this role will be to manage the financial processes of a small nonprofit, ensuring that all operations align with accounting standards and nonprofit regulations. The ideal candidate will be tasked with maintaining precise financial records and creating timely reports to aid in the effective management of resources. Responsibilities: • Accurately recording transactions, including accounts payable, receivables, and payroll, using accounting software. • Ensuring all financial records are complete and precise in line with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. • Conducting periodic reconciliations of the general ledger and preparing journal entries. • Preparing financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. • Tracking and reporting on grant funds to ensure compliance with donor stipulations and grant agreements. • Collaborating with program teams to provide accurate financial information for grant applications and reports. • Utilizing Microsoft Excel for financial management and reporting. • Executing monthly end close procedures and balance sheet reconciliations. • Performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector • Proficiency in performing Account Reconciliation • Proven ability in Balance Sheet Reconciliation • Experience with Bank Reconciliations is required • Demonstrable knowledge of maintaining General Ledger • Ability to prepare accurate Journal Entries • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential • Experience in managing Month End Close processes • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly • Must be a team player with a positive attitude • Certification such as CPA is a plus but not mandatory Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
