The Office of Inspector General (OIG) at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) conducts audits to review the effectiveness, efficiency, economy, and integrity of all DOL programs and operations, including those performed by its contractors and grantees The OIG is seeking support in federal retirement counseling and processing of CSRS, FERS, and LEO retirement actions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Possess the ability to provide a full range of federal retirement counseling and processing services.Professional consulting services in support of CSRS, FERS, and LEO retirement counseling and processing retirement actions (retirement applications processing, application adjudication, retirement payment processing) using an electronic retirement system.Calculating retirement estimates for employees.Consulting and management support in the design and implementation of agency retirement standard operating procedures and processes and maintaining the integrity of the agency’s retirement related CSRS, FERS, and LEO data.Experience with providing VERA and VSIP counseling and processing services is required.Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in federal government military or civil service or equivalent as a federal contractor.Experience program counseling in the following areas.Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA).Voluntary separation Incentive Payments (VSIP).

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of federal retirement programs including Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), Federal Employee retirement system (FERS), Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) enhanced retirement benefits.Outstanding research and analytical abilities.Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to create and edit high quality written deliverables.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution.

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. May be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Must have or be eligible for security clearances. May require occasional travel.
