Sr. Associate, BRS

Job Summary:

The TRS Senior Associate is responsible for executing, leading, and training a team of TRS Staff in business restructuring and bankruptcy related engagements, including bankruptcy litigation and financial due diligence, and addressing complex questions and issues under the direction of a TRS Principal, Director or Senior Manager. 


Job Duties:

General:

Partners with the TRS leaders and decision-makers Creates interactive models and operational and financial analysis and prepares financial memorandums, reporting packages, and other financial presentations Prepares and analyzes complex, detailed cash flow forecasts and financial models together with assumptions and detailed supporting schedules Reviews and analyzes financial statements, recommending changes or highlighting unexpected results Functions as a business advisor to clients Supports business development activities with appropriate financial research, including preparation of new business proposals Works in crisis environments while delivering consistent high-quality work in an accelerated fashion Other duties as required

Turnaround/Restructuring:

Collaborates with debtor clients in restructuring the client’s businesses in and out of Chapter 11  Assists with refinancing efforts and sale transactions  Assists clients with downsizing operations, and meeting operational and financial goals  Assists creditors with obtaining the most favorable distribution of assets from companies undergoing formal bankruptcy proceedings or informal workouts  Evaluates management to determine ability to operate and reorganize  Ensures compliance with all court filing requirements under a formal proceeding Investigates transactions with insiders, financial institutions and other creditors to determine causes of action Assists engagement leaders with financial, operational, and strategic oversight and responsibility in a distressed interim financial management capacity Supports growth strategy and performance improvement plan implementation in a distressed environment 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises the day-to-day workload of TRS Associates and Interns on assigned engagements and reviews work product  Ensures TRS Associates and Interns are trained on all relevant software and resources Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for TRS Associates and Interns Acts as mentor to TRS Associates and Interns, as appropriate

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required

Experience:

Three (3) plus years of experience with a national restructuring firm, management consulting firm, investment bank, large accounting firm, or similar financial institution performing audit, financial recovery or restructuring services, required Prior experience working within a national public accounting firm or consulting organization, preferred Strong financial analysis and complex modeling skills including expertise with cash receipts and disbursements analysis, financial statement modeling/forecasting, valuations and the due diligence processes, preferred

License/Certifications:

CPA certification, preferred CTP and/or CIRA designation, preferred

Software:

High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superior analytical and research skills  Ability to structure complex analyses, gather and analyze data and provide insights Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment Excellent research abilities including familiarity with Capital IQ as well as other research sources Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously  Capable of effective managing a team of professionals and delegating work assignments as needed Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel Willingness to travel as required Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels, inside and outside of BDO, including attorneys, financial advisors, clients and prospects Superior interpersonal, communication, marketing, sales and organizational skills Intermediate knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency process

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range:  $80,000 - $105,000
Maryland Range:  $80,000 - $105,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $80,000 - $105,000
