Sr. Broadcast Systems Engineer

The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring for a Senior Broadcast Systems Engineer. They will design and maintain various complex broadcast baseband and IP distribution systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Provide maintenance and repair of baseband and IP technical equipment in Network Operations Center, Media Ingest, and uplink/downlink facilities.

Perform surveys of broadcast TV multicast network infrastructure and provide recommendations for operating efficiency and growth.

Design & configure multiple multicast network feeds for distribution.

Perform implementation and maintenance of broadcast TV multicast network analyses systems.

Planning, design and construction of new engineering projects as directed by director of network engineering.

Preparation and timely delivery of required status information and reports.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and general public.

Timely documentation of existing baseband and IP delivery systems as well as new systems to be implemented.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Provide timely response to emergency network off-air situations, equipment issues, transmitter issues, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience

Generally 5+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Proficiency in design and configuration of broadcast MPEG compression and multicast distribution systems

Proficiency in remote facility operations

Proficiency in IP multicast delivery operations

Proficiency in MPEG compression systems

Extensive knowledge of baseband audio/video, digital audio/video, IP networking systems, and Telco systems are necessary

Strong oral and written communications and highly developed organizational skills required

Must have extensive range in lifting/carrying and be able to remove and install technical equipment

Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

On-call availability as needed for 24/7 emergency response

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
