Job Overview:  

We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Senior Business Analyst to join our finance team and support the Manager of Consolidations in managing financial data, analysis, and reporting for our public company in Phoenix, AZ. This role will specialize in advanced modeling and analytics to analyze financial trends, identifying opportunities for sales & margin improvement and supporting strategic decision making.   

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be instrumental in gathering, interpreting, and leveraging complex data to drive actionable insights that enhance processes and optimize outcomes. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather information, communicate effectively with different audiences, and ensure the successful implementation of projects. Your expertise in modeling, data analysis and problem-solving will drive strategic initiatives and foster continuous improvement within our organization.

The position is based at Leslie’s corporate office in Phoenix, Arizona and offers the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. This hybrid model provides a valuable work-life balance with both in-person collaboration and remote productivity.

Responsibilities: 

Support the analysis and reporting of financial data, ensuring data accuracy and application of advanced techniques to derive key insights for the business, while creating a solid infrastructure for repeatable analyses. Develop complex models to gather, analyze, and report financial data and to provide deeper root cause analysis. Collaborate with accounting and FP&A to gather data, align on reporting requirements, and streamline cross-functional efforts. Identify and recommend process improvements focusing on automation, standardization, and operational efficiency. Maintain and update financial reporting systems, ensuring data consistency and supporting efforts to automate and enhance reporting capabilities. Provide technical and analytical support for financial system implementations, upgrades, and maintenance, working with IT and finance teams to optimize functionality. Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and company policies in all financial reporting processes. Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested by the Manager of Consolidations and other senior finance and business leaders. Gather and analyze business requirements, collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs, documenting requirements and ensuring alignment with business objectives. Evaluate current business processes, identify inefficiencies and areas of improvement, and propose solutions to streamline operations and increase productivity. Create detailed documentation, including business process diagrams, workflow charts, and system specifications to guide development and implementation efforts. Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into technical specifications.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (MBA, CFA, CPA) is a plus. 3+ years of experience in advanced modeling and financial analysis ideally within a corporate finance environment. Strong proficiency in financial systems and tools, such as SAP, Oracle, Workday Adaptive, Microsoft D365, Snowflake/SQL, PowerBI, or other consolidation/reporting tools is desired; advanced Excel skills required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and interpret large data sets accurately and efficiently. Experience in a public company environment, with an understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements. Proven ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders and documenting requirements. Ability to approach problems from different perspectives and think critically about solutions. Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail in documenting requirements and processes.
