Sr. Buyer I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Buyer I is responsible for department and category area support through order processing, item activity monitoring, price benchmarking, cost analyses, obtaining competitive bids and resolving invoice issues. The Senior Buyer I reinforces with customers, the Supply Chain Services functions and procedures.

 

The Senior Buyer I will submit and maintain accurate contract pricing and product delivery schedule, and works with management to coordinate and facilitate contract implementation for AtlantiCare. The position requires strong spreadsheet capabilities and data management skills.  The Senior Buyer I will work in conjunction with the Sourcing Specialist, Analysts and Department Managers to meet all procurement needs for assigned departments.

 

The Senior Buyer I participates in projects and implementation teams involved with Supply Chain Department. The Senior Buyer I will serve as a resource for team members and other members of the department. The Senior Buyer I utilizes continuing education opportunities to develop purchasing knowledge. This position provides mentoring/training for Buyer I and Buyer II positions. 

 

The Senior Buyer I will provide other services as requested by Management in support of departmental objectives and has the ability to multitask and manage time expectations.

 

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. The Senior Buyer I upholds all AtlantiCare values.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Procurement or related field required

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Materials Resources Professional Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum 2 years Healthcare and/or Purchasing experience, with an emphasis on competitive bidding and negotiation required. Solid experience in a variety of software programs including Microsoft Excel and Office required. Experience with Supply Chain Information Systems required.

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Demonstrates ability to perform intermediate to advanced financial calculations and spreadsheet navigation. Exhibits strong critical reasoning skills.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
