Job Summary
In the role of Senior Chef Manager, you will take charge of the back and front of the house operations for our food service department at The Mount Academy with its campus in Esopus, NY on the banks of the Hudson River. This private school is a four-year-high school for grades 9 - 12 founded by the Bruderhof, a Christian community movement.
Your primary focus as a Sr. Chef Manager will be on maintaining a high-quality culinary program and handling all financial reporting. Alongside that, you will be responsible for menu development, inventory management, purchasing, labor and food cost controls. Furthermore, you will be in charge of personnel management, involving hiring, mentoring, counseling, training and development.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
+ Participate in employee meetings and training programs
+ Conduct safety, sanitation and maintenance programs
+ Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards
+ Maintain an active role in developing the culinary team
+ Lead purchasing and inventory controls
+ Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Degree in Culinary Arts is preferred or equivalent professional experience
+ Five years dynamic, hands on culinary management experience
+ Self-starter, innovative and ability to multitask
+ Able to maintain a positive attitude and empower the team
+ Must possess a passion for excellence
+ Must be knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with accurate storage and use of food.
+ Purchasing, food storage and sanitation experience
+ P&L and financial reporting experience
+ Knowledge of budgets, labor costs, inventory controls
+ Strong leadership, mentoring and training skills
+ Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office and POS
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Outstanding business etiquette and client relations
+ Ability to lift, bend and carry up to 40 lbs
+ Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
+ Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
+ ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
