This Senior Clinical Research Coordinator position will support the Cardiac MRI Center in the Department of Medicine. This position focused on patient enrollment, preparing patients for their cardiac MRI exam, collecting patients' vital records and history on their exam, conducting cardiac MRI image analysis, and managing data for ongoing research studies in patients with cardiac disease. The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator provides research support for coordinating, implementing, and disseminating clinical research.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

Assesses potential patients' eligibility for inclusion in a particular protocol based on study inclusion/exclusion.Recruit and enroll patients in clinical studies according to study protocols. Discuss informed consent with patients.Documents any adverse events that occur. Interacts with patients before entering the study and throughout the entire study.Assists with scheduling appointments and follow-up tests. Extract data on protocol patients from hospital records, outpatient charts, and private physician office records to complete the patient record in the study database.Help prepare the patient for their MRI exam, including collecting ECG and vital signs.Process and manage patient’s stipend and compensation paperwork.Collect and store all MRI images in a local database.Perform image analysis and prepare the preliminary report to be reviewed by PI.Prepare the data for statistical analysis.Store and manage the study database and ensure all data are backed up. Assist with IRB, progress reports, and all necessary documentation of study progress.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.1-3 years of related work experience in a medical setting; clinical research setting preferred.Knowledge of Medical Terminology.Working knowledge of computerized applications, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior research experience in cardiology clinical trialsFamiliarity and hands-on experience with clinical research data management systems, e.g., RedcapProficient in Microsoft Excel, some familiarity with statistical software such as SASS, R, SPSS is required.Prior experience with Epic Systems for medical record

Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.


Physical Nature of the Job:


Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the hospital campus.
