Description and Requirements The Sr. Cloud Engineer is an experienced member and informal leader within the Healthfirst operational excellence strategy. This role deploys and manages enterprise solutions in both public and private clouds, while also developing tools to automate system deployment and configuration management tasks. The Sr. Cloud Engineer provides informal first-level guidance and leadership while working independently and/or collaboratively with other engineers to create solutions. He/she works with diverse technologies to build tools and automation to eliminate manual operations and create reliable and repeatable orchestration. The role is responsible for establishing standards of usage across our public and private cloud footprint. This individual works with other engineers to identify efficiency opportunities, eliminate waste, and improve the resiliency of our infrastructure platforms, while working with application development teams to support continuous delivery of new capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work as a senior member of the IT Operations teamDevelop automated capabilities to deliver capabilities more efficientlyDrive solutions to problems impacting mission critical systems and implement automation to prevent reoccurrenceExecute changes on production systemsWork in center of excellence for cloud usage and cloud development standardsWork closely with other development and operations team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into automated solutionsMaintain an accurate picture of existing server, storage, networking software/ hardware and virtual environments to support scaling against various project requirementsEnsure all usage of cloud environments meet governance standards and contribute to improving standards for security and operational efficiencyOther duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualification:

Technical degree or work experience equivalentDemonstrated expertise in designing, building, and managing Linux/Unix-based and Windows systemsCertification in Development, Architecture, and/or DevOps or equivalent work experience (AWS, GCP, Nutanix, etc.)Deep understanding of Core Cloud Competencies (Virtualization, DNS, Access Control, Environment Management, etc.)Automation scripting expertise in at least one language (BASH, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.)Experience documenting implementations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio for presentations in PowerPoint or similar toolsWork experience demonstrating written, verbal and presentation communication skills with ability to communicate complex informationExperience developing green-field technology through a mixture of experimentation and guided learningHS Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience on a cloud center of excellence team driving business innovationExperience implementing cloud services with an infrastructure as code methodology using AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, & TerraformExperience supporting infrastructure as code and CI/CD integration with Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, etc.In-depth and broad experience with several AWS cloud services like EC2, ECS, EMR, EKS, S3, RDS, Glue, Lambda, CloudFront, etc.Experience with designing and implementing Database platforms within Azure and AWS cloud servicesExperience with large-scale database migrations from on-premises to cloud services within AWS and/or AzureExperience with monitoring and optimization of databases on multiple platforms such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, or MariaDBStrong understanding of cloud security best practices, and implementing a least privileged model of access in AWSDeep troubleshooting skills that involve analysis of logs, traffic trace, configuration data, automation tools to resolve issues until end-to-end systems are functioningExperience with Kubernetes and/or DockerExperience working with development teams to create cloud-native applicationsExperience with system health monitoring and optimizing performance (CloudWatch, New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, Opsview, ExtraHop, CloudTrail, etc.)Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).

Hiring Range*:

Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $131,900 - $190,570

All Other Locations (within approved locations): $117,400 - $174,675

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
