This position can either be fully remote for those residing in WA state or based in our Meridian, ID office which offers a hybrid work schedule

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Commercial Underwriter, you'll directly impact the company’s growth and profitability goals within an assigned territory and book of business. You'll underwrite commercial property and casualty accounts by determining risk acceptability and pricing in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and within established authority level.  You'll have the autonomy to manage a  book of business in a fast-paced environment and serve as the point of contact for assigned agencies and will be responsible for the agency relationship.

We'll trust you to:

Act with autonomy to manage a book of business; make decisions within authority level consistently achieving company strategies and goals.Assess new insurance risks and determines accurate classification of business, policy contract forms and pricing of risk.  Review renewal accounts for acceptability by examining business operations, classification, contract forms and loss activity.   Determine price in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and within authority level.  Review endorsement requests and takes appropriate action.Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and information to meet quality review standards.Partner with agents - provide agency training sessions, employ negotiation skills and deep product knowledge to meet the needs of the customerTravel within assigned territory to meet with agents to develop, expand and enhance agency relationships to promote profitability and growth of new business and the retention of existing business. Leverage agent relationships to drive new business opportunities; continually prospect for new opportunities through pipeline development.Collaborate with cross functional teams: claims, risk management and other underwriting team members as needed to ensure prompt and professional underwriting service is provided.Identify, innovate, and suggest new procedures, and opportunities to streamline department processes and workflows. What you need to have:

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university; or more than five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Develop and maintain strong business relationships; and travel on a regular basis, including overnight.Thrive in a highly competitive and results-driven environmentEffectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple prioritiesCommunicate with a high level of professionalism with internal and external customersAbility to work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include:

Base Salary Range: $100,000 – $125,000
Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
