Sr. Construction Manager (PE)
Job Description The employer is one of the worlds top design, program management (PgM) and construction management (CM) firms, providing innovative and creative solutions for our clients and assisting them in achieving successful outcomes on their most important water, infrastructure, environmental and transportation programs. We currently provide owners agent services around the world with over 300 working full-time professionals who use world-class program controls, processes, and tools. The employer is seeking a senior construction manager / resident engineer (RE) to join our established team of accomplished professionals. Construction management experience in water, wastewater, and conveyance is highly desired. As a member of our team, this individual will provide technical expertise to the firm, and leadership to a staff of construction representatives and project support staff. The individual will plan, direct, and coordinate construction projects ranging from large multi-discipline projects to moderately complex projects. Responsibilities: Project Oversight and Coordination: Ensure all construction activities comply with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines by closely monitoring site operations, coordinating with contractors, and resolving any technical issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Coordinate and control all construction management activities including CPM scheduling, claims management, project coordination, risk management, and quality management on large complex construction management assignment(s). Quality Assurance and Control: Conduct regular inspections (or oversee inspection team), review construction plans, and perform quality control tests to ensure materials and workmanship meet the required standards and specifications, documenting and addressing any deficiencies. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between the project management team, contractors, and clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns, and facilitating effective communication to ensure smooth project execution and successful completion. Communicate and interface with internal/external team members and authorities involved in the planning, design, and execution of construction activities. Serve as the primary contact for the client and home office staff. Build the project team (including subconsultants) and manage their duties and activities. Ensure that construction is completed in accordance with the Contract Documents and Quality Standards. Manage resources and budget effectively contributing to the overall profitability of the firm. Establish processes and procedures to reduce cost, limit risks and provide a safe work environment for our staff. Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor staff and contribute to the firms knowledge management system. Assist in development of a construction management network. Perform other duties as required Collaborate with local Client Services Leaders (CSLs) to provide sales support in pre-sales meetings and pursuit efforts. Participate in the recruitment process by interviewing candidates for construction management positions and offering mentorship as needed. Skills and Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. - Professional engineering (PE) license. - 15 years of related experience. - Domestic and/or international travel may be required. - The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. - Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Driver's License RequirementsAn appropriate and valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications - CCM preferred - Experience in lead CM or RE role preferred on $100M+ construction projects Amount of Travel Required30% Skills and Abilities Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
