What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Fixed Income & Repo Capital Markets Technology team.   Our team is relationship-oriented and need talented and motivated professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our business partners. Acting as both a technology & business subject matter expert, you’ll deliver value by understanding the needs of the Capital Markets trading desks and designing technical solutions that provide high business benefit. You’ll have a solid understanding of industry practices and business processes in various geographic regions. You’ll creatively resolve ambiguous challenges, work with various resources throughout the organization and use strong analytical and inductive thinking to arrive at solutions and decisions. 

How You'll Succeed

Product Knowledge - Have a high-level understanding of Fixed Income and Repo instruments, trade lifecycle, bond pricing, electronic trading platforms and the Canadian, US & European bond markets. Collaboration and teamwork - Collaborate with various business stakeholders from across the bank to understand business processes and identify gaps and requirements.  Have experience working with team members and/or external vendors to identify risks, constraints, dependencies and collaboratively brainstorm solution designs for implementation.Analytical and problem-solving skillset – Have the ability to discern the root cause of complex issues and apply creative thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome project roadblocks.  Have the ability to analyze data and apply critical thinking to extract meaning from data. Leadership skills - Effective at leading meetings and presenting to senior level stakeholders.  Have the ability to handle escalations, proactively create mitigation and communication plans.   Skilled at handling conflict and be comfortable with navigating difficult situations as they arise with stakeholders, on projects and the SLDC lifecycle.

Who You Are

You have minimum 5+ years working as a Business Analyst, or Business System Consultant in Capital Markets with experience with the sell-side / trading domain. It's an asset if you have CBAP.  You have experience working with Bloomberg TOMS, Apex Securities Finance and Finance Professional trading applications and have a great understanding of the SDLC process.  You have experience working on large-to-medium size projects, managing a broad spectrum of stakeholders and mapping out business process and technical flows.  You're experienced with SQL.  You're experienced with Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, JIRA and Confluence.   You're a great relationship builder. You have a proven track record for building trust & rapport with stakeholders. You can easily handle complex situations with your master communication and interpersonal skills. You can easily influence and persuade others to ensure that project deliverables are done on time and efficiently. You have excellent critical thinking skills. You excel at problem solving and data analysis. You have the ability to think creatively but are also detail oriented.You're highly organized. You have the ability to work on multiple initiatives and stay organized and focused. You can create a good project plan and stay on track.You're a positive go-getter. You're positive, inquisitive, self-motivate and take initiative.You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information.
