Requisition ID :17476 Employment Type :Full Time Job Category :Legal Work Location :Davidson, NC (CSC) BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Contract Negotiator will provide end-to-end contracting services primarily for MSC’s business units by negotiating supplier contracts and will contribute to ongoing improvements to simplify and optimize contract templates, standards and processes throughout the contracting cycle. The role will secondarily support the customer contracting team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Drafts, negotiates, and closes complex contracts in collaboration with appropriate cross-functional departments. + Coordinates contract review process with cross-functional teams from matter intake through final execution and close. + Focal point for all communication with legal, finance and business team disciplines for resolution of contract issues and disputes. + Reviews complex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine response for proposals, bids, and contract modifications in accordance with contract policy and processes. + Prepares rationale for contract modifications as a guide to facilitate negotiations between business unit teams and suppliers. + Develops negotiation strategy for and assists business units with complex contractual issues. + When needed, works with outside legal counsel to ensure adherence to and consistency with applicable law and corporate policy. + Assists in identification, development and implementation of new contract policy and processes. + Communicates contract policy and practice as well as provides guidance to internal business teams on corporate goals and objectives relating to contract activity. + Analyzes new laws, regulations, and contract trends for potential impact on business unit goals and objectives. + May mentor and train less experienced professionals. + Has a general understanding of the MSC business model and business terms to include pricing, discounts, freight policies, payment terms, rebates, etc. and an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications. + Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose. + Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required QUALIFICATIONS What You Need: + Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience required. + Minimum of eight years of contract-related experience required. + Juris Doctorate a plus, but not required + Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills required. + Strong to excellent analytical, presentation, and leadership skills required. + Ability to use independent judgment and creativity to resolve contractual issues required. + Excellent internal and external negotiation skills required. + Ability to negotiate complex, non-routine contractual instruments required. + Ability to draft complex, non-routine contractual instruments. + Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, and applicable public contract law and regulations. + Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required. + Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software required. Other Requirements: + A valid driver’s license may be required. + This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”) Compensation starting at $72100 - $113300 depending on experience. The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity.
