Sr. Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description The Controls Engineer is responsible for controls engineering project requirements involving control panel design, PLC programming, instrumentation, check out support and start-up assistance. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing control systems to meet machine and integrated system requirements, and working on automation and control system integration projects for various industries. Responsibilities + Design, develop, and implement control system logic software and hardware to meet machine and integrated system requirements. + Develop control logic software and user interface applications. + Create schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts using AutoCAD software. + Assist with initial start-up, debug integrated systems, and develop system documentation. + Lead projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians. + Manage project schedules and budgets. + Adhere to customer specifications and collaborate with customers frequently. + Support plants and manufacturing facilities in industries such as food and beverage, grain, oil & gas, and wood. Essential Skills + 5+ years of experience in process controls/systems integration. + Proficiency in PLC programming, especially with Allen Bradley. + Electrical knowledge, including design and AutoCAD Electrical. + Experience in commissioning and working with Siemens PLCs. + In-depth understanding of PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon. + Understanding of HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms such as ICONICS Genesis64, Wonderware ArchestrA System Platform, GE CIMPLICITY, GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Schneider, and Siemens. + Knowledge of DCS hardware/software platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar. + Experience in designing electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC and control panels, with NEC references. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred. An Associate's degree with equivalent experience may be substituted. + Experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers/technicians. + Professional references from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager. + Experience in industries such as Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas, and Mining. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work schedule with 1-2 days per week in the office and remote work for the remaining days. The position requires 30% travel to customer sites.
