As Senior Counsel, Global IP and Trust & Safety, you will advise business and Legal colleagues on cutting-edge issues relating to existing and emerging content and online safety laws in the EU, UK and around the world. You’ll work with our Engineering, Product, Operations and Public Policy teams to evaluate and strategize for compliance with a dynamic and developing legal landscape governing user generated content.
The ideal candidate will be independent, proactive, a quick learner and comfortable with complex and evolving legal requirements. This is an opportunity to join a growing legal team, learn about exciting new technologies and business models, and work on novel legal issues.
This role reports to the Senior Director & Assistant General Counsel, Global IP and Trust & Safety Legal.
What you’ll do:
Partner with Engineering, Product and Operations teams to evaluate and develop compliance strategies with existing, pending and developing content laws in the EU and abroad, including IP (e.g., European Copyright Directive). Monitor ongoing developments in legislation, case law and regulatory guidance relating to content and copyright laws and regulations. Provide legal advice on legislative, regulatory and other public policy initiatives relating to intermediary liability, content and IP issues; serve as subject matter expert to support Public Policy and Regulatory Legal teams in engagement activities. Provide timely specialized legal guidance to cross-functional partners and other members of the Legal team on intermediary liability issues, including IP.
What we’re looking for:
Qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction. Bachelor’s/Master's degree in a relevant field such as Law. At least 6 years of post-qualification experience counseling on content issues at a law firm or in-house. Experience with copyright issues preferred. Experience working with or for hosting provider companies in the social media, content or related fields. Previous in-house experience at a technology company preferred. Experience dealing with online safety or other relevant regulators in the EU and/or UK. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity with excellent communication skills. Eagerness to learn with a strong desire to embrace an entrepreneurial, flexible, and collaborative working style. Experience independently leading and multitasking on competing projects and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Our PinFlex future of work philosophy requires this role to visit a Pinterest office for collaboration (approximately 1-2x per quarter). For employees not located within a commutable distance from this in-office touchpoint, Pinterest will cover T&E.
