The Opportunity:
The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing Smurfit Westrock’s customers’ financial condition for credit worthiness utilizing multiple tools that include modeling, internal history and external reporting. The Sr. Credit Analyst will evaluate existing Smurfit Westrock customers with limits exceeding $150,000 for credit limit increases, involving running and analyzing 3rd party reporting applications, bank/trade references, financial statements and public company filings (10Q/10K), debt ratings as well as evaluating the customers’ payment history with Smurfit WestRock. This role will partner with internal departments as well as external customers. The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal/external customers is critical. This role will be located in our Duluth, GA offices and will be on-site 3-4 days per week.

Participates in major department projects, meetings and take an active role in cross-functional teams to assist in driving quality improvements, processes and initiatives.Maintain reserves on high risk accounts through the AR Reserve Process; participates in the AR Reserve monthly process upon requestMaintain assigned portfolio reviews within the recall date and turn days target for credit reviewsMaintain customer accounts within the credit limits and keep oversold accounts at the given targetsRelease orders timely and make sure account is in good standing when releasing orders Maintain Bad debt write-off goal for the assigned portfolio within the given targetMaintain the Watch list and AR Reserve for your portfolioParticipates and pass all SOX, Internal Audit, Securitization, and ISO auditsAnalyze financial statements identifying potential financial risksSet risk-based credit limits using all available credit informationReview existing customers’ payment history and credit reports for credit limit adjustmentsCommunicate credit decisions to customers and senior managementObtain missing credit information from requesting plant/salesmanOngoing communication of Smurfit WestRock credit policiesRegularly review customer accounts for credit limit adjustmentsProactively review customer credit risk changes with Manager of Cash Applications and Credit ManagementEnsure prompt response time on all credit related requestsRun daily queries to assist with overall portfolio managementActively participates and communicates in the team-based work groups that make up the Cash Applications, Credit and Collections.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting5 + years of demonstrated expertise in a high-volume transaction credit environment.Demonstrated ability in problem solving, priority setting and planning.Strong communication skills, strategic agility and process engineering.Previous working experience in JDE or SAP.Demonstrated experience in ExcelProficiency with other tools such as Dunn & Bradstreet, Sales Force, Service Now, SharePoint, etc.
