BRMi is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer with experience in Graph Database to join a dynamic team of dedicated data engineering professionals supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). MUST BE A US CITIZEN.
This role will support innovative and complex data solutions and visualizations to DHS users. The Data Engineer is responsible for collaborating with the technical leads to support the design and development of a knowledge graph and supporting tools in an open-source application environment. This role must be able to build and maintain data models, engineer data architectures, and develop data integrations such as extract, transform, and load (ETL) workflows. Additionally, this individual must work closely with other architecture and engineering disciplines to establish data best practices for analysis, modeling, designing, and building business information systems.
We need an engineer who can dive into the code and create new code to pull together the pipeline. At a senior data engineer level it would also be expected that the candidate would be able to contribute to the vision and articulate the value of a new data architecture that embraces semantic principles.

Responsibilities Assist an enterprise data team in designing, modeling, building, and maintaining data for complex, extensible, and highly visible data platformsCollaborate with technology and business teams to champion robust, flexible, and scalable data architecturesWork with the team to establish data pipelines and policies to populate a knowledge graph from disparate sourcesWork with data engineers from DHS Component organizations to develop, test, and troubleshoot data pipelines to feed a knowledge graphDocument, present, and evangelize as necessary to establish the data platform of the futureOther duties as assigned Qualifications U.S. CitizenshipAbility to obtain and maintain a DHS suitability clearance
BS degree in Computer Science or related field/equivalent experience
7 years’ experience
Must be clearable and/or have the ability to obtain a DHS EOD Suitability.
Experience working with at least one major graph database in a production environment Experience and knowledge working with graph databases and concepts like data mesh and AllegroGraph.Deep understanding of Python Flask, Python Django, Python Django REST on the backendExperience with FastAPIDeep understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, bootstrap, and React on the frontend.Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for communication with a React frontend.Adjust utility functions to return JSON responses suitable for RESTful APIs.Familiarity with GitLab and working with GitLab APIs.Experience with data visualization tools like d3graph, NetworkX, and RDFlib.Comfortable working in a Windows development environment.Desired Skills
