Volt is immediately hiring a Sr. Design Engineer to support a key client, located in Canton, GA.

\r\n\r\n

As the Sr. Design Engineer, you will apply your engineering expertise in a collaborative environment. You will be focused on developing new cryogenic and industrial gas products, taking them from concept to volume production. Assignments are broad in nature requiring the ideal candidate show initiative, be comfortable navigating through ambiguity and be an effective team player. Additionally, this individual will need excellent analytical and strong problem-solving skills in the areas of heat transfer, fluids, thermodynamics, and structural analysis. As a senior member of the engineering team, the Sr. Design Engineer will also improve processes and coach employees.

Within this role, you will:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tReview designs and ensure product technical performance and ensure conformance with internal design standards, regulatory requirements, and safety best practices\r\n\tUnderstand worldwide regulatory requirements (e.g. ASME, PED, CRN, UL, CE, CSA, etc.) to produce equipment (pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, some electrical equipment) which complies with market requirements\r\n\tEngage with production teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable (DFM)\r\n\tParticipate in or lead risk analysis activities, e.g. DFMEA\r\n\tCreate and perform calculations for pressure vessel structural design, piping and heat exchanger sizing, structural weldments, bolting, etc.\r\n\tResearch and conduct additional calculations or testing to mitigate risks in diverse engineering disciplines including fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, static structural analysis, dynamic structural analysis (vibration and shock)\r\n\tUtilize structural FEA for design optimization, failure avoidance, code compliance\r\n\tPrepare technical design documentation (specification drawings, calculations, risk analyses, etc) and submit to regulatory authorities for new and revised designs\r\n\tManage organization of technical design documentation to ensure security and accessibility\r\n\tServe as primary technical liaison and manage communication with regulatory bodies, government organizations , etc as it relates to design approvals, changes\r\n\tAssist with maintaining regulatory compliance by managing timelines for document preparation, submission, etc\r\n\tAssist and instruct designers and other team members in practical pressure vessel, piping, heat exchanger design\r\n\r\n\r\n

Physical Requirements

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tFrequent standing, sitting and walking\r\n\tFrequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting\r\n\tFrequent computer work\r\n\r\n\r\n

Work Hazards:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tProduction floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.\r\n\tWorking with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.

\r\n\r\n

The ideal candidate will have:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBachelor’s or Master's degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering but will consider Aerospace, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering disciplines\r\n\tRegistered Professional Engineer license is highly preferred\r\n\tSix or more years of relevant engineering experience\r\n\tAt least 3 years of experience in new product development in a production environment; project management exposure or direct experience\r\n\tProficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\r\n\tUnderstanding of statics, heat transfer and fluid flow\r\n\tUnderstanding of welding\r\n\tBasic understand of cryogenic liquids, compressed gases and their properties\r\n\tStructural FEA experience and/or CFD experience is a plus\r\n\tStrong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD)\r\n\tExcellent oral and written communication skills\r\n\tHighly motivated self-starter and a team leader\r\n\tDemonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks\r\n\tDesire to drive accountability across project teams and functional team members\r\n\r\n\r\n

Salary: $90,000- $105,000 per year

\r\n\r\n

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
