If you’re a Senior Mechanical Designer, we have an exciting opportunity for you. Expert level Model Based Design (MBD) designer. Works with great latitude and little to no supervision, performs diverse and complex design assignments directed at promoting and enhancing Woodward Model Based Design and Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) practice. Leads and mentors other designers in Model Based Design application and sets direction for the position as a whole. Designs are done also on a more complex level - not only designing LRUs but also working on complete model-based systems with applicable semantic product manufacturing information (PMI) throughout all elements of the life cycle process in accordance with the PLC process.
What You Will Be Doing
Must be able to apply MBD principles and semantic PMI to 3D Models in addition to leveraging advanced CREO Parametric functionality to streamline MBD solutionsAbility to understand and apply Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing or International equivalent at an expert levelMust 3D model at an expert level, complex housings with several discreet functions, and systems for several LRUs into an envelope. Must drive for consistency from business unit to business unitLead MBD pilot projects while working with the MBSE team to assure appropriate connection and flow of design tools, templates, and operations applications. Translates Woodward and industry standards into UDFs and templates to streamline and mistake-proof design engineering execution.Must be able to perform advanced level linear and radial stack-up studiesAdvanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes and how to Optimize semantic PMI while creating or updating design standards, UDFs, and product design templates.Designs are done on a more complex level – not only designing LRUs but also working on complete systems with all elements of the life cycle process in accordance with the PLC processMust be able to have technical influences on the design(s), knowing the right questions to askAbility to support critical customer design reviewsMust be able to develop design standards, train the Woodward design community on these standards, while providing ongoing mentoring and authoritative direction on the application of design standards.Must be available to work with and actively contribute to industry standard groups and industry conferences particularly regarding Model Base Design and other leading industry design initiatives (i.e. Artificial Intelligence, MBSE, GD&T, & VR).An understanding of fundamental engineering principles (heat transfer, fluid mechanics, materials)What We Are Looking For
