Job Overview
The Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture will play a pivotal role in Macy’s technology strategy, driving enterprise-wide architectural alignment and innovation to support long-term business objectives. This leader will oversee a team of Technology Portfolio Architects and Enterprise Technology & Enterprise Business Architects, centralizing architectural oversight and ensuring that technology solutions align with Macy’s transformation initiatives, such as IT modernization and mainframe rationalization. This role demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. The Senior Director is based in Johns Creek, GA and will report to VP, Platform Development.
What You Will Do
Architectural Leadership: Develop and maintain Macy’s enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry trends. Lead the design of modular, scalable, and innovative solutions that address current and future business needs. Collaborate with Portfolio and Domain Architects to establish and enforce architecture principles and standards.
Team Management and Development: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance to ensure consistent architectural practices across portfolios.
Strategic Alignment: Drive enterprise-wide architectural alignment, ensuring cohesive integration of technology, people, and processes. Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, and technology stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency. Advocate for and implement governance processes to ensure architectural compliance and risk mitigation.
Transformation and Modernization: Lead delivery of enterprise transformation initiatives such as cloud migration, IT modernization, and mainframe rationalization delivering measurable business outcomes. Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
Communication and Advocacy: Effectively communicate enterprise architectural strategies, decisions, and roadmaps to executive leadership and stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
Skills You Will Need
Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into architectural strategies. Expertise in cloud technologies and experience migrating legacy mainframe & distributed applications to modern cloud native platforms. Strong communication and leadership skills to influence diverse stakeholders and foster innovation. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes. Advanced knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, governance processes, and emerging technologies.
Who You Are
Dedicated to fulfilling ideals of diversity, inclusion, and respect that Macy’s aspires to achieve every day in every way. 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, engineering management, and large-scale transformation initiatives. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Skilled at influencing senior leadership and bridging technical and business perspectives. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
