The Sr. Director of Indirect Purchasing is a new, high-impact leadership role responsible for building and leading the organization’s indirect purchasing function. Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, this role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can establish, develop, and optimize purchasing processes, policies, and supplier relationships across our North American footprint. The ideal candidate will drive both tactical and strategic purchasing initiatives, foster cross-functional partnerships, and lead significant organizational change management efforts to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Foundational Structure and Strategy Development
Develop and execute a comprehensive indirect purchasing strategy aligned with business objectives.Design and implement standardized purchasing processes, policies, and best practices to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance across the organization.Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify indirect purchasing needs, define priorities, and establish performance metrics.Supplier Management and Relationship Building
Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring alignment with company standards, goals, and cost targets.Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements, balancing quality, cost, and operational requirements.Establish performance measurement tools to track supplier performance and hold vendors accountable to service and quality expectations.Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support.Foster a high-performance culture within the team by setting clear expectations, defining roles, and empowering team members to achieve both individual and collective goals.Oversee team performance, conduct regular evaluations, and implement improvement plans as needed to drive excellence in procurement processes and results.Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the team to ensure alignment with best practices and organizational goals.Organizational Change Management
Act as a change agent within the organization, driving understanding, adoption, and compliance with new purchasing processes and practices.Lead communication and training efforts to ensure alignment and engagement with the purchasing transformation.Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the purchasing department and across the company.Operational and Financial Impact
Drive cost savings and efficiency improvements through strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier optimization.Monitor purchasing expenditures, analyze spending trends, and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining high-quality standards.Develop and manage the indirect purchasing budget, providing regular reports and analysis to the executive team.Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role, preferably within a multi-site, service-oriented industry. Experience in the automotive or collision repair industry is a plus.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement purchasing policies, processes, and performance metrics in a multi-site environment.Strong knowledge of indirect procurement, sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation.Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale change management initiatives.Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practicesExceptional analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.Strong knowledge of indirect procurement practices, category management, and strategic sourcingComfort with ambiguity and a hands-on approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Compensation Details
$170,000 - $230,000 / Year
Compensation is commensurate with skill, education and experience.
Supplemental Pay:
This position may also be eligible for Bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
