The Sr. Director of Operations Planning at American Health Network (AHN), part of Optum, serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership across business units. This role will lead operational modeling, process management, and business unit consulting efforts to drive operational and financial improvements across the organization. The Sr. Director will work closely with AHN leadership, including finance, medical, and clinical dyad leadership teams, as well as Optum cross-functional teams. The Sr. Director will ensure that business analytics effectively bridge the gap between business operations and the organization's strategic goals while driving performance to achieve the Quadruple Aim. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. **Primary Responsibilities:** **Operations Planning Process Management:** + Implement and instill a strategic planning process to align AHN’s long-term operational goals + Lead a rigorous, data-driven approach for evaluating, prioritizing, and selecting operational opportunities to optimize performance + Collaborate with senior leadership to set annual goals and objectives aligned with AHN’s strategic initiatives and monitor progress throughout the year + Lead operational and business unit support for assigned departments, working closely with leadership teams across AHN + Partner with finance and other departments to assess business development opportunities and contribute to budget development + Identify key operational metrics and provide projections for revenue and volume, contributing to operating budget planning and performance tracking **Business Unit Consulting and Execution:** + Facilitate the development of competitive strategies for business units and key functions to ensure alignment with organizational priorities + Oversee project planning, implementation, and performance tracking of operational priorities + Use industry benchmarks to establish operational standards and reporting methodologies for continuous improvement + Conduct analytical studies to provide a solid economic basis for decision-making aimed at improving operational and financial performance + Establish and maintain productive relationships with AHN stakeholders and Optum partners **Operational Analytics:** + Design and establish an analytical structure to perform routine and advanced analytics with a corporate view of the organization + Collaborate with service line and clinical dyad leaders to develop and implement tactics to improve operational performance, growth, quality of care, and patient experience while minimizing costs and maximizing profitability + Analyze data trends, identify outliers, and provide explanations or validation where necessary + Summarize financial, operational, and business data in clear, concise formats for reporting and decision-making **Leadership and Other Functions:** + Lead by example, creating an environment that fosters accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement + Promote a culture of transparency, respect for people, and alignment with AHN’s strategic plan + Participate in succession planning and leadership development initiatives, fostering talent at all levels + Attend meetings, participate in committees, and perform other duties as directed You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. **Required Qualifications:** + 5+ years of relevant work experience in operations planning, analytics, or business management, preferably in an ambulatory care setting, medical groups, or with payers + Demonstrated knowledge of group practices, risk contracting, population health management, and physician office operations + Solid leadership, financial, and management skills + Expertise in business and financial analysis, with the ability to identify root causes of performance variances and partner with leadership to create solutions + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), EMR systems, and project management tools + Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to Indiana and Ohio **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience in leading change management processes, particularly in clinical and financial environments + Knowledge of healthcare operations, budget planning, and financial statement analysis + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
