Job Description

Position Purpose

The Sr. Director, US Operations will have overall responsibility for all activities in the plant network, including all sort, repair, heat  treat in the network, and those same activities with respect to CHEP pallets handled within CHEP facilities. This role will also have responsibility over transportation activities, implementation of all network optimization and standardization activities, human resources, compliance, and other activities in the plant network.  While ultimately responsible for all operational best practices, standardization, and related metrics, this role will also have responsibility of the outcome of Logistics processes and day to day execution to assure fulfilment. In addition, a critical link to the customer and will be responsible for working cross-functionally with the Zero Harm, Commercial, Transportation, Planning and Quality functions to drive continuous improvement strategies across the US network. Responsible for total spend of > USD $XXX million and over 42 million C-Gen (pallets).

Location: Atlanta, GA preferred, will consider other location in Southeast US;

Travel 50%, must be located near a major airport

Major/Key Accountabilities

Lead and foster a culture of Zero Harm

Responsible for design and development of strategic supply chain initiatives and strategic workforce planning within their assigned territory

Responsible for more than 70 operational nodes including all CHEP run and 3rd Party facilities, transportation, and operational activities at assigned Service Centers and TPM locations

Maintain and exceed targeted goals with regards to P & L responsibility for all CHEP run, TPM and 3rd Party operations

Effectively develop 3rd party relationships with continuous focus on reducing costs through cooperative initiatives and amicable negotiations

Lead and drive cost control initiatives and process control

Continually review operations activities, including local transportation activities to maintain compliance with all Federal, State and local laws (OSHA, DOL, DOJ, EPA, FD)

Drive Safety improvements (Zero Harm) across the Plant Network

Ensure the consistent execution of all SOPs throughout Operations and ensure supply chain coordination within the Commercial Organization, CHEP USA, Global Quality, Zero Harm, Procurement, Engineering, Strategic Network Planning, and Logistics

Develop a balanced approach to maximize best operational practices and cost efficiencies across the network while maintaining critical quality and raw material utilization standards necessary to maintain customer satisfaction and profitability

Drive network optimization and material flow within their assigned geography

Lead standardization strategy in the business

Drive compliance through teamwork for all Standard Operating Procedures

Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping opportunities to effectively eliminate waste and drive operational cost to defined targets

Provide visionary leadership to Operations, Territory, Plant Managers and other functional leads

Responsible for the development and implementation of effective plant based employee retention strategies to increase productivity and exceed production targets

Provide leadership and development to all staff, direct and indirect reports, to effectively attract, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate talent to drive increased engagement and team performance

Develop internal team to maximize KPI results and build a solid succession plan for all People Manager positions

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering/Operations/Supply Chain or related field

Strong customer focus orientation

Strong organization, problem solving, team motivation and leadership skills

Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally for sustained success

Detailed understanding of Supply Chain practices and metrics

Desirable Qualifications:

MBA or equivalent job experience

LEAN/ Six Sigma Black Belt

Experience

12-15+ years’ experience in operational/supply chain related leadership roles

Minimum of 8-10 years of people management, to include multi-level managers and in labor intensive operations

Large scale budget management

Demonstrated history of ever-increasing responsibility and success in rapidly changing environments

Demonstrated ability to drive results through teamwork and cross-functional collaboration

Proven track record in developing and maintaining supplier and customer relationships

Demonstrated ability to develop and manage operational budgets and production targets

Demonstrated ability to leverage continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.) to drive operational efficiency

Skills and Knowledge

Strong financial management and analytical skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively on a national basis both horizontally and vertically

Extensive knowledge of the PMS business environment, supply chain and its customers

50% or more travel required

Languages
