Sr. Director, Segment Solutions

The Opportunity:

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

Set 5-year strategic plan in collaboration with segment leadership

Identify market trends and conditions while tying to overall strategic direction for segment

Identify customer requirements for solutions, services, products

Define VWR offering portfolio of products and services:

Categories/SKU’s

Branded vs. private label

Pricing architecture

Key brands

Develop VWR portfolio roadmap and manage portfolio lifecycle:

New product introductions

Substitutions

End of life / ‘sunsetting’

Benchmark VWR portfolio against key competitors to assess VWR competitive position.

Provide input to Supplier Management in selecting and managing suppliers and providing specialist support.

Communicate to sales force and broader organization on VWR portfolio and roadmap.

Develop promotional campaigns with Marketing.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience. Post grad preferred – MBA or related

Minimum 12 years applicable experience

At least 8 years leadership responsibility, recent field sales, category or marketing leadership experience preferred

Display exceptional strategic selling skills including discovery, ROI development and presentation, sales cycle maintenance, tactical planning and closing

Clearly demonstrated problem-solving capacity and the ability to be timely and responsive

Verifiable successful consultative sales experience calling on CEO, COO, CFO, CMO level executives

Established, existing relationships with key C-suite executives

Clearly demonstrated strengths in persuasion, oral/written communications, analytical skills and sales production

History of building and maintaining strong positive business relationships at all decision levels

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work across functions and at all organization levels as well as the ability to generate and articulate sound business strategies through mediums such as white paper and senior level/executive presentations/communication

Possesses current industry and job knowledge; is organized and efficient; demonstrates effective time management and multi-tasking skills; makes decisions in a timely manner

Ability to understand individual customer operations

Willingness to travel to customer locations

Possesses solid contract negotiation and contract writing skills

Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office)
