The Manufacturing and Quality (MQ) IT organization is at the forefront of a ground-breaking phase, propelling our Digital Plant vision across global manufacturing operations while supporting Lilly's unprecedented growth. The Senior Director of MQ IT will orchestrate leadership for IT teams in Global Engineering and Maintenance, Health Safety and Environmental (HSE), Manufacturing Architecture, Infrastructure & Security, and Modernization. Additionally, this pivotal role will oversee the MQ IT Platforms & Integration, serve as the liaison for third-party application support, and lead automation projects that enhance business efficiency through IT solutions.

Responsibilities:

Directly lead 6+ technical experts and manage over 30 employees indirectly on a global scale. Collaborate with the Lilly Capability Center in India and various third-party entities to further the objectives and goals of the organization.

Support, maintain, and deploy global FUME and HSE applications, including a portfolio of over 25 applications including GMARS, GECMS, KNEAT, BatiScript, Intellex, and Gensuite.

Lead the development, dissemination, and upkeep of MQ S95/MESA architecture strategy whitepapers, translating them into practical initiatives within the MQ IT Modernization, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Security Programs.

Orchestrate the formulation and execution of IT Modernization strategy, assembling a team with the capabilities to uphold Corporate Cyber Security Priorities, safeguarding the manufacturing network against security threats in coordination with Protect Lilly enterprise programs and MQ operational goals.

Own relationship with outsourced IT application support and maintenance service providers, driving optimizations and enhancements to achieve Lilly's objectives.

Establish and implement effective governance models and practices to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.

Build robust alliances across manufacturing sites, IT and business partner organizations ensuring agreement on goals, objectives, and support for shared prioritized projects.

Engage in senior HSE and Engineering functions' meetings, contributing to teams like the Global Engineering Lead Team (GELT) and the Global Health, Safety, and Environmental Lead Team (GHSE).

Actively engage with the Global IT forums.

Implement improvement strategies to minimize operating expenses and enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Develop and maintain high-performing teams; employ recognition and rewards as appropriate; demonstrate Lilly values and expect them to be displayed by the team.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related technical field.

Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience supporting Manufacturing or Quality business processes.

Experience translating ambiguous concepts into actionable plans.

Experience implementing IT systems.

Prior experience leading people.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

Experience successfully synchronizing teams to a common business process and application adoption through to value realization.

Consistent track record of influencing global senior leadership to advocate for and advance critical initiatives across business platforms to accelerate Lilly’s competitive advantage.

Proficient in active listening and effective interpersonal communication.

Solid understanding of financial management.

Experience leading high-profile projects.

Proficiency in the implementation of ground-breaking technology that drives innovative and transformational change within and across organizations.

Shown creative problem-solving skills using software systems for processing, filtering, analyzing, and presenting large quantities of data.

Ability to evaluate and resolve sophisticated operational or technical problems.

Prior vendor management experience.

Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others.

Depth of knowledge of GMPs, change management and computer system validation.

Ability to thrive in a complex, changing environment with multiple opposing projects.

Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences in a concise and understandable manner.

A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest.

Additional Information:

Position will be based in Indianapolis primarily at our Lilly Corporate Center and/or Lilly Technology Center South facility with ability to travel to other global Lilly sites as required.
