Sr. Electrical Engineer

Broadridge is hiring! Sr. Electrical Engineers apply their in-depth knowledge and experience to perform a wide range of complex electronic engineering assignments. They research and evaluate prospective technology. Sr. Electrical Engineers use best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve products and services. They analyze electrical interface requirements of off-the-shelf components and specify or design interface circuitry. Sr. Electrical Engineers participate in the establishment of electrical design guidelines and practices. They act as a resource to provide support, direction, and assistance to technicians, engineering staff, and other departments.

Job Responsibilities:

Check control system schematics and specifications and use software and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.Design new and modified systems and components in accordance with general guidelines to support project requirements.Develop and define control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies or platforms such as ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), data control systems (DCSs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), computerized numerical control (CNC) systems, or motion control technology.Develop functional and design specifications for new or existing product/application system features or enhancements.Develop solutions to highly complex technical or process problems which arise in the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of new and existing products, systems, and/or applications.Direct and assist technicians in the assembly and troubleshooting of production systems.Draw and maintain schematic diagrams for electrical circuits. Operate schematic capture application programs and version control systems. Assist in the design of cables and harnesses.Establish and ensure production and product design constraints are documented and kept up to date.Estimate level-of-effort for assigned design tasks.Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.Evaluate the feasibility of new product development or product enhancements.Participate in concept and design reviews for all engineering disciplines.Provide technical advisory support. Gather and interpret technical information and organize and communicate this information effectively.Work on teams responsible for electrical and mechanical hardware design, machine control, and POSIX compliant operating systems.Coordinate spare parts lists and parts orders for engineering projects.Coordinate the completion of formal documentation for engineering projects.Interact with Directors and Managers in Engineering, Production, Software Development, and other departments to ensure that projects are in line with company and product direction.Coordinate and/or facilitate the training and development of staff through coaching, mentoring, on-the-job training, and classroom training.Develop and implement department systems, technologies, methods, standards, guidelines, practices, and procedures.Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations/decisions.Maintain relationships, strategize, and/or collaborate with strategic business partners, vendors, other departments, etc.Manage activities, workflow, and scheduling of Engineering staff and/or functions.Review and approve the work of less experienced personnel.Define and develop the project scope, plan, timelines, deliverables, and requirements.Ensure projects are completed on time, to budget, to standards; and meet reliability, cost, and client requirements.Manage engineering project portfolio, reporting the status to executive management. Monitor and report project status and time systems.Negotiate project resources, deliverables, and costs.Recommend changes in project timelines and specifications and recommend resources where necessary.Attend conferences and product training classes to learn about new technologies and products or to update or improve skills and knowledge.Collect and evaluate service use and maintenance data and conduct root cause analysis of in-service problems such as operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, and failure causes and effects. Recommend and implement corrective action.Improve current processes by recommending new operational procedures and technologies that can improve quality and productivity.Keep abreast of the trends in technology. Perform research, evaluations, investigations, and/or tests to determine feasibility of development of new designs, methods, materials, processes, or systems. Review vendor capability to support product development, make recommendations, and work with vendors to implement.Make recommendations to senior management regarding problems, solutions, new ideas, new technologies, etc.Research and gather business case support information for justification of capital projects.Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimal:    

Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology with at least 5 years of related experience.

Optimal:    

Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology; 10 years electrical experience.

Compensation & Benefits:
