Sr. Engineer, Applications Development

DUTIES:

Analyze system requirements, including identifying program interactions and appropriate interfaces between impacted components and subsystems.

Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.

May lead assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.

May recommend new technologies and methodologies to management for meeting business needs, resolving problems and exploiting opportunities. Remain current with new technologies.

Participate in software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation.

Provide technical advice and assists in solving programming problems.

Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.

Assist in preparing project plans using project management tools.

Review test results; document test activities, and record remedial actions.

Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.

Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.

Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

Demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; remain current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.

Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

Make internal and external clients and their needs a primary focus of actions; develop and sustain productive client relationships.

Occasionally work a non-standard shift including nights and/or weekends and/or have on-call responsibilities.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or related.

Five (5) years in any occupation with development, engineering, or related experience must include: Five (5) years of back-end development experience in Java and J2EE with experience in Spring, ORM and Spring Boot. Five (5) years of experience writing Database queries in PL/SQL, Functions, on Oracle or experience in SQL Server. Experience must also include: Change Control Management; Agile development methodology; Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins; Design Patterns and Automated Unit Testing; and Microservices and Service API development.

SALARY: $133,328 per year

TELECOMMUTING EMPLOYEE: Reports to company headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL. Can work remotely or telecommute up to 100%.
