Position Summary
This position is responsible to improve and develop machines, tools, equipment, and processes for effective production while ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity goals can be achieved daily. This position supports the leadership team and works with the manufacturing plant industrial maintenance technicians.
Position Responsibilities
Develop safe procedures and lock out/tag out instructions for new and existing equipment and processesAdvanced skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports to improve processes or equipmentInvestigate equipment failures and performance issues to diagnose root causes of safety, quality, or productivity issues and make recommendations to maintenance for resolutionUnderstand potential chemical reactions and chemical compatibilities for new and existing processesHigh proficiency in capital projects, including estimating costs, obtaining quotes, and presenting recommendations for process and facilities equipment and construction projects. Advanced skill in handling related project documents, including RFQ (requests for quotes), quote comparisons, PRA (purchase request authorization), purchase contracts, Gantt charts, and others as required.Prioritize project requests with manufacturing leadership and other internal customers. Coordinate execution of projects with Maintenance and Production teams.Write standard work for processes and set target production ratesApply lean and continuous improvement management principles throughout the department’s daily activitiesFlexible work schedule to include coordination of 24-hour on-call service to manufacturing maintenance and off-shift problem resolutionEstablish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamworkOther duties as assignedKnowledge and Experience
6-10 years of manufacturing engineering experienceAdvanced knowledge of MS Office applicationsStrong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and writtenExcellent interpersonal skills including listening, coaching, and conflict resolution.Working knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards including lockout/tag out, confined spaces, blood borne pathogens, machine guarding, hazardous communication, personal protective equipment, etc.Experience with and prior utilization of continuous improvement manufacturing concepts, including lean and Six Sigma methodology.Working experience with FMEAAdvanced knowledge of PLC programming requiredIntermediate knowledge of HMI programming requiredExperience with packaging equipment in a chemical processing environment preferredAdvanced skill in preparing project scope assessments, capital plan authorization, vendor assessments/selection, etc. requiredAdvanced knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Solidworks) drafting requiredEducation and Certification
· Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
